Apple released a software update for iOS 17 this week, and best of all, it didn't even have to throttle the performance of the A17 Pro chip.

But there may be another issue Apple needs to address: the speaker. Some users have complained on social media about loud speaker noises that appear when playing sounds at higher levels.

A TikTok user revealed that he took his iPhone 15 Pro Max to Apple for a replacement. The company acknowledged the sound problem, replacing it twice.

The problem seems to persist.

iPhone 15 owners have observed the issue when playing sound (including videos and calls) with the volume above 80%.

They describe it as a popping or rattling sound or as if there is water inside the speaker. The problem seems to mainly affect the top speaker.

In one video, TikTok user MilesAboveTech explained that Apple recognized the problem and replaced its iPhone 15 Pro Max twice. But all three units ended up manifesting the same speaker symptoms.

Additionally, he went to an Apple store to try out several iPhone 15 models and discovered that all four versions could have the same sound problems.

It's unclear how widespread the problem is. Miles is just one of the iPhone 15 buyers who detailed the sound issue online.

Additionally, it appears that Apple is confirming issues by replacing faulty phones. This is something to consider if crackling sounds bother you.

But it also appears that the replacement units have the same sound problem.

A better idea would be to wait for Apple to address the issue publicly. It could be that a software issue resolves speaker issues on all iPhone 15 phones.

You will not need to return the device if this is the case.

If it's a hardware issue and the speaker components are to blame, Apple will likely resolve the issue at the manufacturing level.

So this means that future iPhone 15 models will not suffer from the same problem. And that will be the time to exchange your iPhone 15 for a replacement.

I'm just speculating as I can't know what causes the sound issues or how Apple will resolve this issue.

However, I'm still using an iPhone 14 Pro and don't plan on upgrading to the new iPhone. Also, I haven't encountered any sound issues since I bought it last year.

However, considering that Apple has already confirmed the overheating issues with the iPhone 15 Pro models, I hope the company also resolves the sound issues in the near future.

That is if the speaker problem is so widespread. The iPhone 15 may have a speaker problem that needs to be fixed
