The recently released Need for Speed Unbound is a pretty fun racing title. EA and Criterion really seem to have found a happy medium with all the interesting and unique gameplay mechanics they've put together for this latest entry in the vast library of Need for Speed titles.

How to Lose Cops in Need for Speed Unbound
While this isn't the first Need for Speed rodeo including cops in its gameplay, a few things have been added to promote its inclusion. And hey, not everyone has played a Need for Speed game before anyway.

The most important thing here is that everyone gets a heat meter. This meter determines how much attention you are attracting to yourself from the police. There are a total of 5 heat levels. After each event you participate in, you will earn at least half a level. In each level, the police force will hit you harder and harder as you progress.
Typically the first level isn't that difficult, with a few patrol cars that will try to take you. Once you level up, you will start to encounter more professional drivers in SWAT vehicles, eventually moving up to a level 5.
Staying away from the cops isn't that difficult in the lower levels, as you really only need to break their line of sight for a few seconds. Going through alleys, hiding behind walls, and even making quick U-turns and maneuvering out of them can easily throw them off your trail.
Although you can always crash your car into them to get them off your back, but this is not always feasible. And even after you lose them, you can still end up on their radar if you're not careful, especially if you have a high heat level. So how do you get rid of it?

How to manage heat in Need for Speed Unbound
In fact, you can totally clear your heat level, for now, on a daily basis. Unbound features a suite of daytime and nighttime events. After returning to the garage during the day, you can return at night. But your Heat level will be maintained throughout the day until you go back to sleep. This resets you for the next day and you can drive as if nothing happened.
