What is a judge's appeal?
The judge feature shows players the individual values (IV) of their Pokémon through leveling and battling that Pokémon over the course of the game. The IV is a diagram that displays the Pokémon's six stats: HP, Attack, Defense, Speed, Sp. Attack and Sp. Defense. By clicking Judge, the player will know how good the IV stats are for that particular Pokemon. If there are no improvements needed for a stat like HP or Speed, the stat will say 'Better'. If the Pokemon requires more work on a certain stat, it will say 'Decent‘.
The judge feature tells players where upgrades are needed for their Pokémon. Giving players insight into how long to level up their Pokemon, what they need to focus on, and how to make the best build possible for their Pokemon. It's a very useful feature that helps players tremendously looking to create the best Pokemon team possible for PvP and Tera Raids.
How to Get a Judgment
You don't get this resource by completing Scarlet and Violet's three main questlines. However, this is indeed the first step towards getting this feature. This is what you need to do to unlock the judge feature.
- Complete all three paths of Scarlet and Violet: Path of Legends, Victory Road and Starfall Street. Obtain all 18 emblems.
- Become the champion of the Pokémon League by defeating the Elite Four as part of the Victory Road quest line.
- Defeat Scarlet and Violet's final boss in Area Zero and obtain the Hall of Fame Badge. You know the base game is complete when you see the endgame credits after beating this boss.
- In the post-game, first go to a Pokémon Center to heal your Active Party Pokémon. You will likely need to do this after the final boss fight.
- Visit Academy Director Clavell. Right after your visit, return to any Pokémon Center. When talking to the Nurse, you will now have access to the Judge Resource.
How to use the resource
Once unlocked, enter your Pokemon box via the main menu popup. Go to the Pokemon of your choice by hovering over the icon. Click in 'check stats' using the + button. Then click 'Judge' using the + button one more time. This will show the individual values of your chosen Pokémon.
